How the TREES on a property could hide great PROFIT potential OR a costly development DISASTER!

Local councils in Victoria have become increasing protective of established trees – both on nature strips and within private property boundaries.

Restrictions on removing certain trees can completely derail plans for building an extension or redeveloping a site, turning what might appear to be a profitable development project into a financial disaster!

Removing trees without getting the appropriate permits can lead to lengthy planning delays, fines of thousands of dollars – or even the Council taking a developer to court.  But it would be wrong to assume that a site cannot be developed simply because there are several established trees on the property…

Often trees can be incorporated into a development design and in many instances trees on a site CAN be removed.  It’s possible that an overgrown property could be hiding a viable, profitable project that other developers might miss!

This month, we’re excited to have expert arborist Ben Kenyon join us for our meetup.

Ben will explain:

  • How to identify which trees on a property could impact development, and which ones you don’t need to worry so much about.
  •

  • When you can or can’t remove trees from your property without a permit.
  •

  • Common tree-related issues when dealing with Council.
  •

  • What is a “tree protection zone” and why understanding this is essential if you plan to build or extend.
  •

  • Ways of designing around established trees and incorporating trees into a design
  •

  • The important role of an arborist in site assessment and planning applications.
  •

  • The best timing to engage an arborist in your property projects.
